Concrete Turtle? Yes that's right, a concrete turtle crawling into a cave with waterfalls cascading down. Little River casino & resort just finished an amazing addition, an Event Center with 1,675 seats and over 14,000 square feet of fun and excitement including two full bars. Some of the decor include a winter garden complete with waterfalls, a winding river, wooden bridges, an amazing lounge with a large, fresh water fish tank all under a 70' domed glass ceiling.
"When De'vere Construction of Alpena Michigan sent plans to us, I was very excited about the project. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity that somebody wants a turtle, especially of that magnitude. It was a challenge right from the beginning. There was some extensive framework involved, along with the challenge of incorporating six different shades of color, along with different types of patterns. There was also 3,500 sq. ft. of stamped sidewalks that meandered their way through the winter garden."
"Then there was getting the concrete inside of the building with an 800-foot haul that required pouring concrete into a large bucket hauled into the courtyard with a skid steer then dumped into a pump truck that fed the concrete through 200 feet of hoses. It was one of the most difficult projects I have ever been on," explains Pete. "This was all done inside and trying to control the messy process that comes along with stamped concrete was half the battle. There were tropical plants and trees everywhere you turned. Now that the winter garden is complete, we can move onto the next phase, the courtyard. It has some very unique features."
